How can you upgrade or repair your Audi A6 C5 lighting to bi-xenon?

For all projector headlights there are replacement bi-xenon projectors. Because the original reflector bowls, which are part of the projector, loose their shine through years use, replacing the bulbs won't help much for improving the light output. So don't make the mistake to buy bulbs first! Our recommendations is to first replace the projectors. Second is to invest in some quality bulbs like the Osram CBI, because xenon bulbs do loose quite some power through their lifetime. Pre-facelift 1997 - 2001 to Audi A6 C5 bi-xenon

On the Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for two consecutive years, the Audi A6 C5 pre-facelift set a new trend for Audi’s executive line-up, with revolutionary styling and an aerodynamic shell that made for low drag in spite of the relatively large saloon. It remained in production between 1997 and 2001. The lighting technology used in this car is however more than 20 years old today. Factory-fitted options included H1 low beam and H7 high beam halogen and D2S low beam and H7 high beam single-xenon headlights, both headlights are manufactured by Hella. For both type headlights we have a high quality Audi A6 C5 bi-xenon retrofit / repair kit. This kit includes some very nice Aharon bi-xenon projectors, with very good light output. This very versatile projector can hold D2S bulbs but also H7 halogen bulbs, so you can use it with xenon bulbs or if needed for MOT or due to a limited budget with regular H7 halogen bulbs.

Halogen

The halogen version features a 2.5-inch H1 projector, which produces an average light beam even when new. In many cases, its light output has been further compromised as bulb heat and general ageing cause the reflective layer to peel off. With the bi-xenon kit, you can convert your headlights to bi-xenon and improve light output excessively. And with the high beam splitters you will have high beam from the xenon projector and the original H7 halogen high beam! Installation of the kit is also very easy from the backside of the headlight (see Video). Single-xenon

Single-xenon setups also feature a 2.5-inch projector, this one designed in the late 90s. These projectors are known to lose their reflective layer. Even to the point where they become black inside, causing dangerously low light output. With the bi-xenon kit, you can convert your headlights to bi-xenon to improve light output quite a bit. And with the high beam splitters you will have high beam from the xenon projector and the original H7 halogen high beam! Installation of the kit is also quite easy from the backside of the headlight. Facelift 2001 - 2004

Awarded the World Car of The Year in 2005, the Audi A6 C5 4B facelift set a new trend for Audi’s executive line-up, with revolutionary fastback styling and an aerodynamic shell that made for low drag in spite of the relatively large saloon. It remained in production between 2002 and 2005. The lighting technology used in this car is however more than 20 years old today. Factory-fitted options included H7 low beam and H7 high beam halogen and D2S bi-xenon with H7 high beam Bi-xenon headlights, both manufactured by Hella. The original Hella E55 that are used in these headlights suffer from burned and blacked-out reflector bowls which will result in a very bad light output. New bulbs won’t help much, because of the bowls. So new projectors are the best investment for improving light output. And in case of xenon, new xenon bulbs are also a good investment, because they can lose 70% of their original output. Luckily for you this projector can be replaced by -in our opinion- the best projector on the market, the Aharon EvoX-r 2.0. The improvement of light output is quite extraordinary. So don't hesitate and invest a tiny amount of money for a big improvement of light.

Facelift halogen

The halogen version features a 3-inch H7 projector, which produces an average light beam even when new. In many cases, its light output has been further compromised as bulb heat and general ageing cause the reflective layer to peel off. The Aharon EvoX-r 2.0 can be used with H7 halogen bulbs (sometimes a small modification of the bulb base is needed). But with some high quality D2S bulbs, ballasts, H7-D2S cables and H7 splitters you can also upgrade to bi-xenon. When in doubt what to order, don't hesitate to contact the Retrofitlab.com experts. Facelift Bi-xenon

Bi-xenon setups also feature a 3-inch D2S projector, designed in the late 90s. These projectors are known to lose their reflective layer. Right to the point where they become black inside, causing dangerously low light output. Because the Aharon EvoX-r 2.0 can hold D2S bulbs, you can re-use your original bulbs, or invest in some high quality ones like the Osram CBI. Because a lot of times the original igniter won't fit nicely on the bulb we advise to use the D2S Extension Cables for an easy and correct installation/connection. Other lighting upgrades

LED parking/city light

We honestly hate it so see nice xenon headlights with yellow halogen city lights. So to complete thet looks and save some energy, invest in some LED bulbs to match the xenon.

LED turning signals

A really cool upgrade are LED turn signals. √ - You don't have a orange glow on the front when the turn signals are off. √ - Because they are LED they are on/off and don't fade on and off like halogen bulbs. √ - Very bright so traffic will notice your turn signal better to improve safety.

LED High beam

To upgrade the original H7 high beam, some H7 LED high beam bulbs can be used.

!! Now you are all set to upgrade your light and impress the world !!
