The first Porsche with four doors, the Cayenne 955 added everyday practicality to the trademark luxury and performance car qualities of this iconic brand. Factory-fitted options included H7/H7 halogen and D1S/H7 bi-xenon headlights, manufactured by Valeo and by Hella.
The facelift version, the 957 has received headlights with an updated style and the Xenon HID version uses different projectors.
The halogen version features an H7 projector that produces an average light beam even when new. In many cases, its light output has been further compromised as bulb heat and general ageing cause the reflective layer to peel off.
Bi-xenon setups of the facelift model feature the well-known 3-inch Hella E55 projector, designed in the late 90s. These projectors are known to lose their reflective layer right to the point where they become black inside, causing dangerously low light output.
Needless to say, buying new or used original headlights for your Porsche 955 9PA is not recommended. But there is fortunately no need for that.
